Pakistan storm into quarterfinals of ATF U-12 Team Competition

Pakistan qualified for the quarterfinals of the ATF 12 & Under Team Competition Finals in Singapore after recording a commanding 3-0 victory over Uzbekistan on Wednesday.
In the opening singles, Rashid Ali Bachani overcame Zinatulin Milan 6-4, 6-2, before Shayan Afridi outclassed Ziyatov Azamjon 6-1, 6-1 to give Pakistan an unassailable lead. The doubles pair of Shayan Afridi and M. Ibraheem Gill then sealed the clean sweep, defeating Umedov Alimkhan and Zinatulin Milan 6-4, 6-4.
Placed in Group D alongside Thailand and Uzbekistan, Pakistan had lost a hard-fought tie against third-seeded Thailand on Tuesday. However, the young side bounced back impressively to clinch their place in the last eight.
The tournament features strong outfits from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, China, Korea, and Chinese Taipei.
Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi congratulated the junior squad on their achievement, expressing hope that they will continue their winning momentum in the upcoming stages. Secretary General Col. Zia-ud-din Tufail also praised the players and management for their commitment and teamwork.
