WWE star Becky Lynch has ignited outrage after making a provocative joke about Ozzy Osbourne’s death during Monday Night Raw, prompting a fiery response from the late rock legend’s daughter, Kelly Osbourne.
The live show, broadcast from Birmingham, Ozzy’s hometown, saw Lynch lean heavily into her villain persona. She insulted the city, calling it a dump, before delivering a line that left many stunned. Referring to Osbourne’s death in July, she said the only good thing to come out of Birmingham had died a month ago. She added that Ozzy at least had the sense to move to Los Angeles, calling it a proper city, and quipped that if she lived in Birmingham, she would die too.
Her remarks quickly drew criticism from fans in the arena and across social media. The loudest response, however, came from Kelly Osbourne, who lashed out at Lynch in an Instagram Story. She called the wrestler a disrespectful dirtbag, adding that Birmingham would not spit on her if she were on fire. She also condemned WWE for allowing comments about her father and his home to air.
While Lynch’s character is known for pushing boundaries as a heel, many felt she had crossed the line with her comments about an icon whose legacy is deeply tied to the city. The promo was meant to set up a storyline feud with Nikki Bella, but the backlash over the remark has since overshadowed the match itself.
Despite the uproar, WWE has yet to issue a statement, and Lynch herself has not apologised. For now, the fallout continues, with fans split between viewing it as scripted entertainment or a distasteful insult that went too far. Kelly Osbourne’s anger, however, makes it clear that the joke has struck a very personal chord.
