Mission CTRL’s performers ready to electrify Lahore while raising funds for flood survivors

The hybrid music event will allocate finances for the monsoon crisis

KARACHI:

EVNTM is set to hold a hybrid electronic music event ‘Mission CTRL’ at the PIA Planetarium on the 30th of August in Lahore. They plan to donate a percentage of the profits to the Al Khidmat flood relief campaign for survivors in KP, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

“Mission CTRL will be an audiovisual experience like no other. On the evening of the 30th, the dome of the planetarium will ripple with electricity,” said Abdul Rehman who is the CMO at EVNTM, while talking to The Express Tribune.

Annural Khalid is headlining the show. The rest of the lineup features the newest generation of Pakistan's underground electronic artists.“This event will be groundbreaking. It will include both live production and vocals,’’said Abdul. The lineup includes Hassam Anwar, Hatim, Ahsan Asif Mughal, Salor, Izzchughtai, Ozzie and Malik. These names are likely to stimulate excitement in anyone familiar with Lahore's underground electronic music scene. “It seeks to create a commercial space for underground artists while breaking the stigma surrounding electronic music, making it an event that is family friendly and accessible to all”. Popular content creator Ansar(@_ansar_a on instagram) will be hosting the event.

Abdul highlighted how EVNTM will be using some of the profits from the event to support relief efforts for the ongoing monsoon crisis. The death toll in KP has crossed 400 as a result of the floods. According to the NDMA, more than 700 people have lost their lives in the monsoon rains since the 26th of June. Al Khidmat has conducted 131 rescue operations and saved 910 people in the process. They are collecting funds to provide aid, shelter and medical assistance for the victims. EVNTM aims to contribute to this effort through donations, which they shall take from the income they generate from the upcoming event.

The venue is a previously abandoned facility that has now been renovated. It was designed by German architects in the 1980’s and fits very well with the retro-aeronautics and space aviation themes that seem to be decorating the digital teasers to the event.
