LAHORE:

Authorities have decided to upgrade all Safe City cameras in Lahore with facial recognition and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) systems.

According to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), nearly 8,000 cameras installed across the provincial capital are undergoing a software upgrade. Once functional, the new system will enable real-time monitoring of traffic violations as well as tighter surveillance of criminal activities.

Until now, only 600 cameras in the city were equipped with facial recognition.
