ISLAMABAD:

The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (N-CERT) has warned public and private institutions to take measures for the protection of citizens' personally identifiable information (PII).

In an advisory issued on Wednesday, the N-CERT urged organisations and citizens to strengthen their data protection practices amid a sharp rise in incidents of data breaches, identity theft and privacy violations in the country.

According to the advisory, the guidelines apply to all entities that collect, store, process or transfer citizens' personal data, regardless of whether their infrastructure is on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid.
