Allotments: Govt spending Rs23.9b on education

Rs1 billion would be spent on upgrading schools across the province

LAHORE: The Punjab Government is spending Rs23.90 billion on the promotion of education during the current fiscal year, made available by the Annual Development Programme, an Education Department spokesman said on Monday. He said that Rs1 billion would be spent on upgrading schools across the province and Rs540 million had been reserved for the renovation of old buildings. Another Rs1 billion had been earmarked for the setting up of science laboratories and Rs550 million for computer education in both elementary and high schools.  He said that the provincial government’s Punjab Knowledge City project will be completed at a cost of

Rs4 billion.
