Channing Tatum is stepping into the world of anime in an unexpected move that has caught both film and anime fans by surprise. The Hollywood star will voice the character Keizo in the upcoming English dub of Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle. He will be joined by actress Rebecca Wang, who will take on the role of Koyuki.
The announcement was made alongside confirmation that the beloved returning English dub cast from the hit anime series will reprise their roles. Zach Aguilar returns as Tanjiro Kamado, Abby Trott as Nezuko Kamado, Aleks Le as Zenitsu Agatsuma, Bryce Papenbrook as Inosuke Hashibira, Johnny Yong Bosch as Giyu Tomioka, and Erika Harlacher as Shinobu Kocho.
According to Mitchel Berger, executive vice president of global commerce, Tatum discovered his love for Demon Slayer and anime while watching the series with his daughter. His addition to the cast marks a rare crossover between mainstream Hollywood talent and a high-profile anime release.
Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is the first film in a three-part cinematic trilogy that will conclude the epic anime saga from studio Ufotable. The story follows Tanjiro Kamado’s fight to restore his demon-transformed sister Nezuko to human form while facing increasingly powerful demons and forging bonds with fellow members of the Demon Slayer Corps.
The Infinity Castle film continues the high-stakes battle between the Corps and their most dangerous foes yet, with breathtaking animation and emotionally charged storylines that have helped the series become a global hit. Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, the film will open on September 12 in the United States and Canada, distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Fans eager to hear Tatum’s anime debut will not have long to wait, as the release date is just weeks away.
