Land grabbers: City police chief demands crackdown

LAHORE: So far 271 cases have been registered against land grabbers in which 958 people have been arrested, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir said on Monday. He was addressing officials at a department meeting where he ordered the Lahore Police to launch a strict and effective crackdown against land grabbers in the city.

The CCPO said that Lahore will soon be transformed into a city where people will not be able to use power to usurp the property of weaker parties. He said that crime was a transferrable disease in society, and if action was not taken in time, every segment of society was affected. He directed the police officers to ensure exemplary punishment to those involved in the crime. He said if police officers were found providing patronage to the land grabbers, they will be suspended and action will be taken against them. The CCPO appealed to the citizens to inform the police about land grabbers so that a timely action could be taken.

“Every civilised society creates sense of protection among its citizens, in which they are certain that nobody can illegally occupy their property,” he said.
