Nick Cannon recently offered a candid reflection on fatherhood and relationships, expressing hope that his daughters will make different dating choices than he did. In a conversation with Extra's Mona Kosar Abdi, Cannon shared personal insights while promoting his upcoming late-night show, Nick Cannon @ Night.
The 44-year-old entertainer described the series as a reimagining of traditional late-night television, aiming to make it more interactive and engaging. “The goal here is to reinvent the late-night experience and make it more interactive,” he said. Cannon noted that alongside his humor and experiences, professionals like doctors and therapists will offer expert guidance on topics such as love, sex, and relationships.
When asked how his personal experiences shape his views on dating today, Cannon joked, “I think everybody is about to start dating robots,” referencing the growing influence of technology. However, he quickly turned serious when discussing the impact fatherhood has had on him.
“Fatherhood, more than anything, changed me,” he said. “When you have five daughters, you start thinking differently. I want to be honest and true, but I can’t live the same life I’ve always lived. Hopefully, my daughters learn from my mistakes and don’t date people like their dad.”
Cannon’s comments take on added weight considering his large family. He has 12 children with six different women. He shares twins Moroccan and Monroe with singer Mariah Carey; three children with model Brittany Bell; and three more with DJ Abby De La Rosa. He also has children with Bre Tiesi, LaNisha Cole, and Alyssa Scott. His son Zen, whom he had with Scott, passed away at five months old due to brain cancer.
Cannon’s remarks reveal a more introspective side as he balances fatherhood with an evolving media career.
