
City Jalalpur police cracked the murder case of an elderly woman within just 24 hours, revealing that her own grandson was the perpetrator.
The case came to light on July 23, when Muhammad Aslam found his mother's room locked when he went to deliver food. Upon forcing entry, he discovered the lifeless body of 65-year-old Shamoon Mai on the charpoy, bearing discernible black marks with her tongue protruding. Her gold jewelry and cash were missing and a case under sections 392, 302 was registered.
Multan CPO Sadiq Ali Dogar directed Acting SSP Operations Kainat Azhar, SP Saddar Shamsuddin and DSP Jalalpur Mian Rauf to prioritise the case.
Under their supervision, SHO City Jalalpur Muhammad Adnan and his team demonstrated outstanding performance and cracked the complex case within a day.
During the investigation, the forensic team was called to secure the crime scene. After gathering information from the locals, the police started monitoring close relatives.
The accused admitted entering his grandmother's room around 3:00am on July 22 when the house was empty, strangling her to steal gold earnings, nose ring, and cash before locking the room from outside.
