Two farmers die after inhaling toxic gas
Two farmers died after inhaling toxic gas while repairing a tube well at an under-construction farm house in Kot Pindi Das, near Kala Shah Kaku. The incident occurred when the tube well motor malfunctioned and the farmers descended into the well for repairs, unaware of gas accumulation.
Rescue 1122 was called immediately, but both victims had already died by the time they were retrieved. The deceased were identified as 65-year-old Shabbir, and 50-year-old Ramzan. Their funeral prayers were held at the local graveyard, attended by a large number of villagers.
This marks yet another incident, with locals recalling a similar event last year in which three family members lost their lives under similar circumstances.
Residents expressed concern for such incidents and called for government-led awareness campaigns and proper safety measures to prevent further loss of life.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 10-year-old boy, Adnan, drowned in the Dekh rainwater drain near Khewari Stop on GT Road after slipping while playing along the bank.
Rescue teams recovered the body after two hours of search efforts and handed it over to the family. Police have termed both incidents accidental.
