On July 17 2025, 70MM IMAX tickets for The Odyssey went on sale at midnight eastern time, exactly one year ahead of its 2026 release date, and sold out in several key theatres within minutes.

The Odyssey will be the first film fully shot with IMAX cameras, aligning with Nolan’s preferred screening format.

The film will be shown in fewer than 30 theatres across North America equipped to display 70MM IMAX, which contributed to the rapid ticket sales. At New York’s Lincoln Square AMC, tickets sold out within five minutes of release.

The Odyssey features a cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal, and Zendaya, with the production focusing on capturing as much of the epic story in-camera as possible.

While the film’s final runtime is yet to be confirmed, AMC currently lists a placeholder runtime of 2 hours and 40 minutes. The first trailer for the film debuted in theatres earlier this month but has not been released online.

There will be four 70MM IMAX showings per theatre during the film’s opening weekend, with potential for additional screenings closer to release.

The Odyssey is scheduled to open in theatres on July 17 2026.
