
Hearing the bail applications of PTI leader Ijaz Chaudhry in four cases registered against him in connection with the May 9, 2023, riots, a Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench headed by Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi has sought the record of the ongoing proceedings of the trial court on Wednesday.
The deputy prosecutor general informed the court about details of one case, stating that there were 16 accused, of whom some were on pre-arrest bail, while others had been declared proclaimed offenders.
PTI founder Imran Khan had also been granted bail in the case.
The challan of the case had been submitted before the court, statements of the prosecution witnesses had been recorded and cross-examination of some of them had also been completed. He said further details will be shared by the next date of hearing.
He informed the bench that the bail pleas of Ijaz Chaudhry, Umar Sarfraz Cheema and Shafqat Mehmood in the case had been dismissed.
