The Four Shades in Genshin Impact have now been revealed, expanding the game’s lore ahead of the anticipated 6.0 Nod-Krai update.

Contrary to popular belief, Teyvat is governed not by Archons but by the Heavenly Principles, who defeated the seven ruling sovereigns and cast their Shades to rule in their place.

These Shades, stronger than the seven Archons, are envoys managing different aspects of Teyvat. The recent Interlude teaser, The God’s Limits, confirms their identities.

Istaroth, Ruler of Time, worshipped by Enkanomiyans, diverted the Traveler’s sibling’s attention during the Cataclysm. She bestows “History” and may shape Teyvat’s culture.

Naberius, Ruler of Life, merged with ‘Gold’ Rhinedottir after the Cataclysm. Rhinedottir, one of Khaenri’ah’s Five Sinners, created artificial life that caused chaos across Teyvat.

Asmoday, Ruler of Space, is the ‘Unknown God’ who separated the Travelers during the opening cutscene and once called herself the sustainer of Heavenly Principles. The teaser suggests she has now switched sides.

This revelation sets the stage for Genshin Impact’s next phase - taking players to Snezhnaya, where multiple storylines are expected to merge - filling critical lore gaps ahead of the 6.0 update.
