Orlando Bloom has turned to the wisdom of Carl Jung as he navigates life after his split from Katy Perry. The Lord of the Rings actor, 48, shared several of Jung’s quotes on Instagram on July 2, reflecting on loneliness and personal growth.
“Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself,” read one quote Bloom shared, originally posted by Sapienkind.
Other quotes included, “Every form of addiction is bad, no matter whether the narcotic be alcohol, morphine or idealism,” and, “Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.”
Jung, the founder of analytical psychology, also noted that “About a third of my cases are suffering from no clinically definable neurosis, but from the senselessness and emptiness of their lives,” which Bloom included in his reflective post. He concluded with Jung’s reminder that, “We are not what happened to us, we are what we choose to become.”
This is the latest motivational message Bloom has shared following his split from Perry, 40, after nearly a decade together. Earlier this week, he posted a Buddhist mantra on Instagram stating, “Each day is a new beginning. What we do today is what matters the most.”
Us Weekly confirmed in June that the pair had ended their engagement amicably and continue to co-parent their daughter Daisy Dove, 4. A source stated, “Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,” adding that while Perry is upset, she is relieved not to face another divorce.
