
A most-wanted criminal, Jahangir Alias Jogi was killed in a police encounter near Shahwala Forest during an operation by the Crime Control Department (CCD) police on Monday.
According to District Officer Saadat Ali Chauhan, the accused was a resident of Ehsanpur, Kot Addu and was wanted in over 20 serious cases including robbery, dacoity, murder, attempted murder and kidnapping for ransom across Muzaffargarh, Layyah and Lodhran districts.
During routine patrolling, CCD police confronted armed suspects who opened fire.
In the exchange, Jahangir was fatally shot, reportedly by friendly fire from his own accomplices.
