Two cousins killed, five injured in blast

Khaal Police have registered the case and initiated an investigation into the incident.

A powerful explosion occurred at a scrap shop in the Khaal Bazaar area of Lower Dir on Saturday, claiming the lives of two individuals and injuring five others. One of the injured is reported to be in critical condition.

According to details, the explosion was triggered by explosive material hidden among the scrap items, causing a loud blast that was heard from a distance. The victims were identified as Aminullah, son of Ajmal Khan, and Roidad Khan, son of Faiz Talab Khan — both residents of Khaal Kandor and paternal cousins. They died on the spot.

Rescue 1122 teams promptly responded and shifted the deceased and injured to the District Headquarters Hospital in Timergara. One critically injured victim was later referred to a hospital in Peshawar for further treatment.

The tragic incident sent shockwaves through the local community, especially as both cousins were laid to rest together. Heart-wrenching scenes were witnessed at the joint funeral, which was attended by thousands of mourners.
