
A man was arrested after he set his sister-in-law on fire following her refusal to let him check her mobile phone and memory card.
The incident took place in the village of Sardarpur near Khanewal, where Ramzan set his sister-in-law Farhana on fire after she refused to let him check her phone and memory card.
The victim suffered severe burn injuries and was initially taken to the Kabirwala Hospital, from where she was later referred to the Nishtar Hospital in Multan.
The suspect fled after the attack. According to the police, victim's husband, Yousaf, a truck driver, was away for work at the time of the incident.
The suspect who lived in the same house and reportedly often pressured her to show him her mobile phone. When she refused, the suspect took petrol from his motorcycle and set her on fire.
Hearing her screams, neighbours informed the police and Rescue 1122, who arrived at the spot and shifted her to the hospital.
Sarai Sidhu police registered an FIR. CCD Additional IG Sohail Zafar Chattha ordered Khanewal District Officer Ishaq Sial to ensure the arrest of the suspect.
Sial formed five police teams that apprehended the suspect and handed him over to Sarai Sidhu police.
