The RCB Executive Officer Rana Manzoor Ahmed said fumigation sprays and fogging activities are being carried out in different areas since August 25.
The RCB head added they had bought three new fogging machines for fumigation purposes, each costing Rs50,000, which will become operational in two days. An aerosol generator, costing Rs125,000, has been ordered, for which tenders have also been floated, he said.
To raise awareness among the cantonment residents, 500 posters explaining precautionary measures, have been put up and about 5,000 pamphlets are being distributed, he said, adding that an adequate stock of the “relevant” medicine has been made available and is being used in anti-mosquito sprays through five hand pumps and fumigation machines.
RCB has also been broadcasting public service messages through the print and electronic media. The board has also started to make rounds of the different localities. The board has designated five vans to give important information to residents of different areas, explaining how they can protect themselves against the dengue virus.
As far as treatment facilities are concerned, Ahmed said a hundred beds had been set aside at the Cantonment Board Hospital for dengue related emergencies.
