
In what appeared to be tragic episode, a 10-year-old boy allegedly picked and threw his one-year-old female cousin in a drain in Wahid Colony, leading to her death. The body was recovered later.
The minor boy identified as Azaan Akhtar was reportedly didn't like his cousin Maryam. Ratta Amral police took the boy into custody and presented him before the court, which subsequently sent him to the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB).
Musarrat Bibi complained to the police that her son Aqeel's one-year-old daughter, Maryam, was playing outside. She made her granddaughter sit to a nearby square.
Later, when checked, the child was missing. There were no photos of the child, nor any suspects at the time, leading to the suspicion that she might have been kidnapped.
The police registered a kidnapping case and launched an investigation, conducting search operations throughout the night and continuing into Thursday.
During the investigation, CCTV footage revealed a 10-year-old boy carrying the child down the street towards a nearby drain and throwing her into the water.
