A young man was killed and more than 140 people injured in animal-related incidents during Eidul Azha sacrifices across Pakistan, Express News reported.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swabi district, a tragic accident occurred in the Topi area when a sacrificial cow kicked a young man in the chest during the slaughter process. The youth died on the spot, local media reported.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened in the village of Maini Loya Lar while the animal was being restrained with ropes. The body was transferred to a hospital for medico-legal formalities before being handed over to the family. The sudden death plunged the local community into mourning.

Meanwhile, in Punjab, at least 144 people were injured in similar incidents involving livestock during slaughter rituals, according to Rescue 1122. Of those injured, 33 sustained serious injuries and were admitted to various hospitals, while the remaining 111 were treated on site or discharged after receiving first aid.

“Accidents occurred in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and other districts as animals broke free during the sacrifice process,” a Rescue 1122 spokesperson said.

Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution during the handling and sacrifice of animals to avoid further injuries or loss of life.
