Hysteric screams of fear and horror of two minor girls made the neighbours rush to the otherwise quaint house which was home to Faisal Saghiruddin, his wife Sana son Muhammad Ali and two little daughters.
Sana was lying in a pool of blood, her throat slit open with a sharp knife. Faisal was also lying unconscious nearby with deep cut in the neck and knife in his hand. Muhamamd Ali was also dead, but there was no visible mark of trauma.
The neighborhood took the two daughters into their protective custody and handed them over to their uncle.
The police seized a sharp-edged knife from the crime scene and sent the bodies of Sana and her son, Muhammad Ali, to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem. The severely injured Faisal Saghiruddin was shifted from Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to Civil Hospital for treatment.
District West police chief SSP Tariq Elahi Mastoi said the investigation so far strongly suggests that the victim Sana's husband Faisal, who was also injured, allegedly killed his wife and son. Sana's two minor daughters, Aimal and Bareera, were present in the house and initially told the police that they went to sleep between 10pm and 2:30am and usually wake up between 10am and 11am, but today they slept until 4:30pm, raising suspicions that they might have been given sleeping pills.
However, the police are recording statements from the neighborhood and local residents. The exact reason for the double murder could not be determined immediately, but the police are further investigating.
Local residents said Faisal had a hardware store in the area and had rented a house about a year and a half ago. The neighbors gathered upon hearing the girls' screams and immediately informed the police. They mentioned that they had never heard any quarrels or disputes coming from the house.
