Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has rejected a lucrative offer from Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal, choosing instead to continue playing football in Europe.

The Portuguese midfielder, 30, had reportedly been offered a weekly salary of around £700,000 by Al Hilal—an offer that would have netted him approximately £65 million per season, including bonuses and other incentives.

Despite the eye-watering proposal, Fernandes has decided against leaving Old Trafford for the Middle East.

Fabrizio Romano reported that the decision was rooted in Fernandes’ desire to remain competitive at the highest level in Europe.

Fernandes made 36 Premier League appearances during the 2024–25 season, contributing 8 goals and 10 assists.

His leadership and creativity in midfield have been central to Manchester United’s efforts, particularly during a period of transition under manager Ruben Amorim.

The offer from Al Hilal is part of a wider recruitment push by Saudi clubs, who have already lured several high-profile European stars.

However, Fernandes' rejection is seen as a boost for United, whose fan base has expressed concern over speculation surrounding the captain’s future.

While it remains unclear whether Fernandes could seek a move elsewhere in Europe later in the summer, his refusal to join Al Hilal signals his ongoing commitment to top-tier football.

The club has recently bolstered its attacking options with the signing of Matheus Cunha, though Fernandes remains a critical component of United’s midfield setup.
