Production house owner arrested for assault on motorcyclist in Karachi's DHA

Suspect's guard and driver had already been detained, and the vehicle involved in the incident was also impounded

Police in Karachi have arrested an individual accused of involvement assaulting a motorcyclist in DHA Phase 6’s Khayaban-e-Ittehad area on Monday, Express News reported.

His security guard and driver were taken into custody earlier, and the vehicle involved in the incident was also impounded.

According to DIG South, the main suspect, who was confirmed to not have been a goverment official, was apprehended following raids at his residence and office.

The suspect’s identity has been confirmed, and an FIR has been lodged against him and his associates.

Despite the lack of a direct complaint from the victim, police registered FIR No. 25/278 at Gizri Police Station based on eyewitness Muhammad Saleem’s account.

Charges include criminal intimidation, assault, unlawful confinement, and obscenity under sections 506B, 354, 342, and 504/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to the complainant, the incident occurred on May 31 when a minor collision took place between a motorbike and the Land Cruiser.

The suspect, identified on-site as Salman Farooqi, allegedly ordered his armed guard and driver to forcibly detain the biker in the vehicle, beat him, and verbally abuse him, with the motorcyclist repeatedly apologising to no avail.

The sister of the motorcyclist pleaded for an apology at the scene but was pushed away.

A video of the incident circulated on social media, showing the man slapping the motorcyclist without apparent provocation.

Local media identified the suspect as the CEO of a local advertising company.
