KARACHI:

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry and Special Assistant to the Sindh CM on Investment and Public Private Partnership Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar held an important meeting at the Sindh Investment Department. They discussed the project to connect Karachi Port to Shahrah-e-Bhutto (Malir Expressway) at Qayyumabad Interchange. Other projects also came under discussion included: building a logistics park for parking port's heavy traffic, making seawater potable and usable and supply it to the industries.

The two sides agreed to organise a meeting between the Sindh government and the Karachi Port Trust to make the proposed project of connecting Karachi Port to Shahrah-e-Bhutto feasible.

Naveed Qamar informed the meeting that the proposed project, after completion, would facilitate the movement of heavy traffic to the port while heavy traffic would get access direct to the M-9 Superhighway without entering the city.

The federal minister appreciated the project and assured his full cooperation.

Secretary Investment, Sindh, Raja Khurram Shahzad, Director General Public Private Partnership Unit Asad Zamin and other senior officers also attended the meeting.
