Windstorm lashes Jamshoro, leaving three dead

HYDERABAD:

A moderate to low rainfall accompanied by strong winds damaged some houses, trees and signboards mainly in Jamshoro district on Wednesday. Three lives were lost and 20 people were reportedly injured in Jamshoro. The district's people complained of a widespread power outage during and after the rainfall.

A 15-year-old boy, Rashid Chandio, died in an incident of the roof collapse in his house near Babbur Bus Stop in Jamshoro. In a similar occurrence, 11-year-old Ayaz Khunharo died in his home near Brohi chowk. Ahsan Soomro died in Kotri near the District and Sessions Court when the roof of his house caved in.

The downpour broke the spell of humidity which had gripped Hyderabad, Jamshoro and other neighbouring districts for the last three days. Hyderabad's peak temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 45 degrees centigrade. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast hot days with mercury touching 46 degrees in Hyderabad in coming days.
