The Rawalpindi Livestock Department has ramped up efforts to ensure that only healthy, disease-free animals are sold in Rawalpindi division's livestock markets ahead of Eidul Azha.
Ten interprovincial checkpoints have been established, and departmental staff will be deployed across all cattle markets starting May 26. As per the department, the ten checkpoints include four in Attock, three in Rawalpindi, two in Murree, and one in Jhelum.
These are strategically placed to inspect animals being brought in from various parts of the country for Eid sacrifice.
Officials have dismissed rumours about diseased animals being transported from Balochistan, terming them baseless after a thorough investigation.
From May 26 onward, departmental teams will begin inspecting livestock at markets for diseases including foot-and-mouth, intestinal fever, skin lesions, mouth ulcers, and lumpy skin disease.
