PA condemns Khuzdar attack

LAHORE:

The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the recent deadly attack in Khuzdar, Balochistan, which claimed six lives — including four children — and left 42 others, mostly schoolchildren, injured.

Terming the tragedy a reflection of India's "disgraceful defeat" in a recent conflict with Pakistan, the assembly resolution declared that the consequences of that defeat were now manifesting through such cowardly acts.

"The perpetrators and their facilitators will be brought to justice at any cost," it asserted.

The resolution was tabled by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Mian Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, who alleged that the attack was an act of vengeance by India targeting innocent Pakistani children. "This is an extremely shameful and inhuman response to military defeat," he said during the session.

According to the resolution, the attack occurred when a bus belonging to the Army Public School (APS) was in the process of picking up children from various locations for school.

The resolution received unanimous support from both treasury and opposition benches.

Following the completion of the day's agenda, the House was prorogued for an indefinite period.
