Two cops martyred in terrorist attack on Bannu check post
Two policemen were martyred and one was injured when terrorists attacked a police check post in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's (K-P) Bannu district on Wednesday, according to Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).
A statement from the CTD said that the assailants breached the post by detonating explosives at the main gate, leading to a firefight that resulted in casualties.
The explosion caused significant damage to the police post and nearby shops and disrupted power supply in the area, CTD said.
The injured personnel and affected civilians were transported to District Headquarters Hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, security forces cordoned off the site and launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers.
In a statement, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack and expressed condolences to their families. He also wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
Naqvi praised the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police for their continued sacrifices and vital role in combating terrorism in the region.
