Two soldiers martyred during N Waziristan operation

RAWALPINDI:

Security forces eliminated 12 Indian-backed terrorists in multiple operations across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Balochistan over the weekend, the military said on Monday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted in Lakki Marwat, Bannu and North Waziristan districts of K-P, as well as Awaran and Kech districts of Balochistan on Saturday and Sunday.

During the engagements, two soldiers embraced martyrdom while fighting bravely, the ISPR added.

"On 17-18 May 2024, nine Khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy, Fitna Al Khwarij, were sent to hell in multiple engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province," the ISPR said, referring to terrorists affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

"An intelligence based operation (IBO) was conducted by the Security Forces in Lakki Marwat District. During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location and resultantly, five Indian sponsored khwarij were sent to hell," it said.

In the second IBO in the Bannu district, two terrorists were "neutralized" by the security forces, the ISPR said, adding that terrorists ambushed a security forces convoy in the Mir Ali general area of North Waziristan, where "own troops responded effectively and sent to hell two Indian sponsored khwarij".

However, during the intense fire exchange, "two brave sons of soil, Sepoy Farhad Ali Turi (age: 29 years, resident of District Kurram) and Lance Naik Sabir Afridi (age: 32 years, resident of District Kohat) having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat", the ISPR stated.

In a separate statement, the ISPR said that three terrorists, belonging to the outlawed Indian proxy, the so-called Baloch Liberation Front (BLF), were killed in separate engagements in Balochistan's Awaran and Kech districts on 17-18 May.

According to the ISPR, an IBO was conducted in Gishkur general area of Awaran on the reported presence of terrorists. During the IBO, "own troops effectively engaged the terrorists' location and after an intense fire exchange, Indian sponsored Terrorist Younas was killed, while two Indian sponsored terrorists got injured," it said.

In another engagement in the Turbat city of the Kech district, according to the ISPR, security forces "successfully neutralized two Indian sponsored terrorists". The slain terrorist were identified as terrorist ring leader Sabr Ullah and terrorist Amjad alias Bichoo.

Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the killed Indian-sponsored terrorists, who remained actively involved in multiple terrorist activities against the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) as well as target killing of innocent civilians, the statement said.

It said that sanitisation operations were being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in those areas. "The security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism perpetrated by Indian proxies, and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve."

President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the security forces for different successful operations against Indian proxy terrorists in K-P and Balochistan, and paid rich tributes to two brave Jawans who embraced martyrdom during the operation in North Waziristan.

In their separate statements, Zardari and Shehbaz reiterated the determination to continue action against terrorism till its complete eradication from the country. They said that the whole nation stood shoulder to shoulder with the security forces in the war against terrorism.

"The valiant armed forces are carrying out successful operations to crush the Indian proxy Fitna al Khawarij," Zardari stated. "The whole nation stands with the security forces in the war against terrorism," he added.

The president commended Lance Naik Sabir Afridi and Sepoy Farhad Ali Toori for their patriotism and courage. He prayed for the elevation of the rank of the martyrs in Jannah and the grant of patience to the bereaved families.

While noting that Fitna al Khawarij was perpetrating terrorism and heinous activities in Pakistan with the support of India, Shehbaz appreciated the professional capabilities of the officers and personnel of security forces for eliminating Indian supported terrorists.

He paid tribute to Sepoy Farhad Ali Toori and Lance Naik Sabir Afridi for embracing martyrdom for the country during an effective operation against Khawarij in North Waziristan. He said that the war against the menace of terrorism would continue till its complete elimination from the country.

Shehbaz also commended the security forces for their professional expertise and timely action against Indian agenda. The Indian conspiracy of putting in danger the life and property of innocent and unarmed citizens in Balochistan by perpetrating terrorism had been exposed, he added.

The prime minister said the whole nation was standing shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces with unwavering determination to defend the country. "We will foil the nefarious designs of India to undermine peace and security in Pakistan," he added.
