
Armed robberies continue unabated in the city, with law enforcement seemingly unable to contain the surge in violence. In just past five days, three people, including a child, have been killed by robbers in Korangi district. Across Karachi, two citizens were shot dead within eight hours while resisting robbery attempts. So far this year, 46 citizens have lost their lives in such incidents.
A fatal robbery took place within the jurisdiction of Awami Colony Police Station on Monday. Two unidentified robbers on foot attempted to snatch a motorcycle from 30-year-old Hafiz Faisal, who resisted. The assailants shot him multiple times and fled with his belongings. Critically injured, Faisal succumbed to his injuries en route Jinnah Hospital. At the time of the incident, he was on his way to pick up his nephew from school.
Meanwhile, another young man was killed during a robbery near Orangi Town's Disco Mor. Two armed robbers entered an ice cream and fresh juice shop. A shopkeeper opened fire, killing one of the robbers. His accomplice managed to flee unharmed.
However, shop employee Abid, 20, was hit during the crossfire and succumbed to his injuries at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. He had arrived in Karachi just 15 days ago in search of work.
