The Sindh government has declared May 28 a public holiday to commemorate Youm-e-Takbeer, marking the day when Pakistan became a nuclear power in 1998.
A notification issued by the provincial administration confirmed the closure of all government and private institutions across Sindh. The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) also announced it will remain closed in observance of the holiday.
May 28 is officially recognised as a gazetted holiday nationwide. Last year, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared May 28, known as Youm-e-Takbeer, a national holiday to honour the day Pakistan became a nuclear power.
