An assistant professor at Islamia College University has been dismissed from service following allegations of harassment.

According to a statement shared by Provincial Minister for Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi on social media, the action was taken against the Islamiat teacher after a student filed a formal complaint against him.

The university's inquiry committee conducted a thorough investigation into the matter. Based on the findings, the university syndicate confirmed the allegations and approved the dismissal of the assistant professor.

Minister Afridi commended the university administration for handling the case swiftly and in accordance with the principles of justice.

He stated that strict measures have been implemented to prevent harassment in universities and other education institutions across the province.

The zero-tolerance policy against harassment is being strictly enforced, and no leniency will be shown to any offender, he added.

Afridi emphasized that anti-harassment laws and relevant forums in K-P are fully operational and are playing an effective role in promptly addressing complaints.
