RAWALPINDI:

The FIA Immigration has issued a policy guideline for the arrest of people involved in crimes at airports, underscoring strong coordination between law-enforcement agencies to prevent suspects from fleeing abroad.

According to the guideline, the names and details of suspects or individuals at risk of fleeing abroad should be placed on the stop list, passport control list, or exit control list of the interior ministry and the Directorate General of Passport and Immigration.

FIA Immigration will be authorised to stop such individuals at the airports, land, and sea routes, it says. The guideline stresses that implementation should be ensured under the laws and regulations.

IG of Punjab Police has issued orders to the heads of police units, regions, and districts across the province to strictly implement the guideline, according to a two-page document seen by The Express Tribune.

"The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, Islamabad, and the Ministry of Interior, Islamabad, are the sole authorities for placing or removing names from the PCL and ECL," the document stated.
