ISLAMABAD:

The FBR has imposed a 10 per cent processing fee on Afghan transit trade.

According to an FBR notification, the electronic fee will apply to five new categories of products, including agricultural tools, cranes, electronic scrap and data machines.

Sources said that the Ministry of Commerce recommended the introduction of a bank guarantee and processing fee to prevent exploitation of Afghanistan's lower customs duties.

The government has launched a crackdown on illegal trade under the guise of Afghan transit. The policy aims to enhance tax collection and promote transparency.
