HYDERABAD:

A young couple attempting to marry without the consent of the woman's family was attacked in an apparent honour-related case in Tharhri Mohabat, Dadu district, on Saturday.

According to police, Sapna Janwri and Mashooq Solangi were en route to court to solemnise their marriage when unidentified assailants opened fire on them. Khalid Solangi, who was accompanying the couple, was killed on the spot, while Mashooq sustained injuries. Sapna died in the attack.

The victims were shifted to the taluka hospital, while Mashooq was later referred to a hospital in Larkana for further treatment. Police said the attackers managed to flee the scene and no arrests had been made by Saturday evening. An FIR had yet to be registered.

Family sources told police that Sapna had left her parents' home four days prior and had been staying with relatives of Mashooq.
