Legendary wrestling commentator Jim Ross has announced he’s been diagnosed with colon cancer.

The All Elite Wrestling (AEW) broadcaster shared the news on Twitter, stating, “Diagnosed this week with colon cancer. Surgery being scheduled in the next week or two. I appreciate your concern and support.”

This marks another health battle for Ross, who previously overcame skin cancer in 2021. At the time, he underwent treatment and was declared cancer-free by December of that year. Earlier in 2024, he also revealed he had undergone cancer-related surgery on his right hip.

Jim Ross is one of the most respected voices in professional wrestling, having started his career in the 1970s. He rose through the ranks from Mid-South Wrestling to the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW), eventually becoming a defining voice of WWE’s Attitude Era alongside Jerry “The King” Lawler. His emotional and gritty play-by-play style became synonymous with legendary moments involving stars like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Rock, and The Undertaker.

In 2007, Ross was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and later joined AEW in 2019, bringing his iconic voice to a new generation of fans. He currently hosts the podcast Grilling JR with Conrad Thompson.

AEW issued a statement in support: “All Elite Wrestling joins fans around the world in sending love and support to Jim Ross as he battles colon cancer. J.R. is a valued member of the AEW family, and we stand beside him during his journey toward recovery.”

Ross has not revealed the exact date of his surgery but has promised to keep fans updated.
