KARACHI:

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced city-wide protest demonstrations on 13 major arteries of Karachi to be held on May 16, in response to the acute water shortage affecting the metropolis.

JI Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar made the announcement during a press conference at Idara Noor-e-Haq on Wednesday. Addressing the media, he alleged that the PPP-led govt had subjected Karachi to a sustained "water assault."

"Wherever the PPP finds Karachi, they try to turn it into Sindh just to fuel corruption," Zafar claimed.

He further said that 14 days ago, an 84-inch water supply line developed a leakage - the sixth such incident in the past seven months.
