YouTuber Austin McBroom has released a lengthy public statement addressing allegations made by his ex-wife, Catherine Paiz, in her newly released memoir.
The former ACE Family father expressed shock and disappointment, saying he felt “blindsided” by the book’s content, which includes claims of infidelity and emotional betrayal.
In a video message, McBroom said, “I never wanted to talk about this... to protect the most important people in my life, which is the mother of my kids and my kids.” He explained that their co-parenting relationship had remained strong until the release of the book excerpt. According to McBroom, the memoir portrays him unfairly and monetises their past for public attention.
Paiz writes in her book that discovering McBroom’s cheating felt like “living inside a lie.” While McBroom admitted to stepping out of the marriage, he insisted Paiz was aware of his actions and that they had continued their relationship for several years afterward.
McBroom alleged the book’s version of events omits context and accused Paiz of using their relationship to generate interest. He shared past conversations and video snippets to support his claim that she had once referred to him as her “soulmate” and “life partner,” even after the events she details in the memoir.
He also expressed concern about his children’s safety, claiming Paiz hosted spiritual retreats involving ayahuasca in their home. McBroom said he has since taken more responsibility in caring for their children to protect them.
Despite the controversy, McBroom stated he will not address the issue further, adding, “I’ve done a lot of healing... I am in a completely new chapter of my life.”
