Political commentator and Twitch streamer Hasan Piker says he was detained and interrogated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents at an airport over the weekend, raising concerns about political profiling and freedom of speech.
Piker, known for his outspoken views on U.S. foreign policy, Donald Trump, and the war in Gaza, shared the details during a livestream on Monday. The incident reportedly took place Sunday afternoon, shortly after he posted a photo on X with the caption, “It happened,” followed by a tweet confirming he had been detained.
According to Piker, the interrogation lasted approximately two hours. He said the agent who questioned him “knew exactly who the f*** I was” and asked pointed questions about his job, his political commentary, and even the topics he covers on his livestreams.
“He kept asking, ‘Do you talk about the war?’ ‘Do you talk about Trump?’” Piker recalled, saying the questions felt politically motivated.

They detained him at the airport and asked him about his Twitch bans and his anti-Trump coverage.💀 pic.twitter.com/bj4AKeQ4Yz
He also said agents bizarrely asked him about his Twitch bans and chat behavior, suggesting surveillance of his online activity.
Piker interpreted the questioning as an intimidation tactic aimed at silencing outspoken voices. “They want to create an environment of fear,” he told his viewers, adding that he plans to use his platform to expose this kind of treatment.
Piker, a prominent figure in progressive media, has previously drawn criticism from conservative figures for labeling the U.S. as a global aggressor in past interviews.
The CBP has not issued a public statement regarding the incident.
