Amid the uncertainty and disarray caused by the ongoing conflict between Pakistan and India, Mother's Day arrived to offer some solace and a reminder of what most people hold dear.
Taking a break from defending their country online, Pakistani celebrities took to Instagram to pay tribute to their caregivers and celebrate motherhood.
In an Instagram post shared Sunday, Aiman Khan flaunted the mini-festivity set up by her family. "My Amal planned this," she said of photos of her cutting a flower-topped cake with her daughters and actor-husband Muneeb Butt as balloons hovered in the backdrop. "One of the greatest gifts I've ever gotten are my daughters," she added.
Meanwhile, Zara Noor Abbas penned a heartfelt note in gratitude of her little one. "Noore Jahan, thank you for making me your Mama. You are my softness, my strength, my most honest reflection. Because of you and my mother (Asma Abbas), I understand what it means to love with every inch of my soul," she wrote.
Paying tribute to all mothers and even those suffering from the tragedy of losing their children, Zara added, "Today, I hold space not just for myself, but for every woman - the ones who've carried life and lost it, the ones who mother in silence, from afar, or in memory, and those whose babies aren't babies anymore but will forever be their hearts walking outside their bodies."
She continued, "To the women who gave birth, to the ones who raised, to the ones who are still waiting, and to the ones who once were: you are seen. You are sacred. And you are never alone in your motherhood. This day is for all of us. With love, with ache, with grace."
A sacred status
For first-time mothers like Saboor Ali, the occasion was nothing less than a milestone in this lifelong journey. "My first Mother's Day, with Serena in my arms and my own Mama in my heart," Saboor wrote, honouring both her baby and her late mother.
"I wish she were here to see me become a mother but I feel her in the way I love Serena, in the way I nurture, in every quiet strength I didn't know I had, and in the kind of love that never ends," she added. "Today, I honour her, I celebrate Serena, and I step fully into the role she once held so beautifully. This love is hers, passed through me."
Reflecting on the strength that motherhood lends her, she said, "I've never felt love this deep, this fierce, this sacred. I finally understand what love without limits feels like. My first Mother's Day, and I'm already forever changed."
Sanam Saeed, on the other hand, not just celebrated her mother on the occasion but seemingly also dropped a special announcement. Sharing old and new photos with her mother, Sanam wrote, "I'll be one very soon Insha Allah, and I pray I'm every bit like her and more."
Dropping a long list of traits she wishes to acquire from her mother, the Zindagi Gulzar Hai actor added that she wants to be "loving, nurturing, attentive, cool, fierce, fun, impulsive, confident, and a lioness." In addition, Sanam would also like to be "smart, approachable, supportive, honest, vulnerable, real, forgiving, and compassionate."
As to how she views her mother, Sanam has three strong titles reserved for her nurturer: "My saviour, my protector, my role model." She added, "Happy Mother's Day to every single mama out there."
