Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, two of England's most storied football clubs, find themselves in an unexpected European showdown.

Despite underwhelming domestic campaigns, both teams have navigated their way to the UEFA Europa League final, scheduled for May 21 at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao.

In their latest Premier League outings, both clubs faced defeats that underscored their season-long struggles.

Manchester United suffered a 2-0 loss to West Ham United at Old Trafford, marking their 17th league defeat of the season. Manager Ruben Amorim expressed deep concern over the team's form, stating, "We need to be really strong in the summer and be brave. We will not have a next season like this if we start like this" .

Despite domestic disappointments, both clubs have found solace in European competition. Manchester United secured their place in the final with a commanding 7-1 aggregate victory over Athletic Club, while Tottenham advanced by defeating Bodø/Glimt 5-1 on aggregate .
