Woman killed 'for exposing social evils'

Fehmida's father, husband and son also injured in armed attack

HYDERABAD:

A woman was killed and her husband, son and father were injured in an armed attack carried out allegedly for exposing fraud, corruption and other social evils in the area on social media. The incident happened late on Friday night in Aliabad Colony within the limits of Hatri police station in Hyderabad.

The police identified the slain woman as 33-year-old Fehmida Rajar. The injured include Younis Rajar, 10-year-old son Misri Khan and 62-year-old father Rahim Bux Rajar. The child has been hit by a bullet in his head. A bullet pierced through the face of Younis while Rahim Bux was shot in the hand.

Younis told the police that they were returning from the residence of their relatives when they were attacked.

He accused Ayaz Chandio and his associates for the attack, saying that the attack was a retaliation for a video which was shared on social media showing betting dens operating in his area.

The incident's FIR was supposed to be lodged by Saturday evening but it was not registered till the filing of this report. The police have reportedly rounded up a suspect identified as Dildar Khuwaja.
