The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for several regions, forecasting windstorms, dust storms, thunderstorms, and possible hailstorms from May 8 through May 12.

The advisory warns of potential damage to loose infrastructure, including electric poles, trees, vehicles, and solar panels due to strong winds and lightning.

Meteorologists attribute the unstable weather to moist currents entering the upper and central parts of the country, coupled with the influence of a westerly wave affecting most regions.

In Sindh, the forecast calls for partly cloudy weather in most districts, with chances of thunderstorms and rain in places like Mithi, Mohenjo-Daro, Sukkur, and Hyderabad, especially on Friday.

Nawabshah, Dadu, and Karachi are expected to remain mostly dry but hot, with daytime highs ranging between 36°C and 44°C.

Karachi will see humid and partly cloudy conditions, with temperatures expected between 34°C and 38°C through the weekend.

Rain and thunderstorms, some accompanied by heavy falls and hail, are expected in Kashmir, northern and eastern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast and southern Balochistan, and southeast Sindh on Thursday and Friday.

Over the past 24 hours, hot and dry conditions dominated most areas, though isolated thunderstorms occurred in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, northeastern Punjab, and northern Balochistan.

Notable rainfall included 11mm in Upper Dir, 9mm in Balakot, 5mm in Kalam, 4mm in Garhi Dupatta, and 5mm in Kamra.

The highest recorded temperatures reached 44°C in Padidan, Dalbandin, and Nokundi, with Jacobabad and Dadu close behind at 43°C.
