A now-deleted article from a publication called Nexus Point News claimed Alex Garland was set to direct a film adaptation of Elden Ring for A24, sparking widespread discussion online. However, the report was pulled within hours, and neither A24, Garland, nor FromSoftware have confirmed its validity.
The article gained visibility through a post by popular gaming news account Wario64, who shared it on X after seeing it on the forum ResetEra. While the post suggested Nexus Point News was “breaking more and more news,” the site remains largely unknown and previously published unverified exclusives—some of which were directly denied by involved studios.
When contacted for comment, Nexus Point News’ editor-in-chief declined to provide any explanation for the article’s removal. A24 and FromSoftware also offered no public response. The lack of confirmation has led to further scepticism, particularly given the growing trend of unverified entertainment scoops spreading rapidly through social media.
Speculation around a possible Elden Ring adaptation isn’t new. In 2022, FromSoftware stated its interest in expanding the franchise “beyond the realm of games,” and George R.R. Martin, who created the game’s lore, hinted at the potential for future multimedia projects. Still, no official announcements have followed.
While the idea of an Elden Ring movie fits with the game's ongoing popularity and the upcoming release of Elden Ring: Nightreign, there is no confirmed evidence that a film is in development.
