Golden State Warriors guard Buddy Hield gave fans a light-hearted moment to kick off the Western Conference semifinals on Tuesday night—by stepping onto the court in the wrong pair of shorts.
In the opening minute of Game 1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center, Hield took the floor wearing a mismatched uniform: black and blue shorts instead of the Warriors’ official black and yellow kit.
The Timberwolves’ bench spotted the error, and Hield, realising the mistake, cracked a smile before sprinting off the court and into the locker room to change.
The uniform blunder caused a brief delay, and the Warriors were forced to burn an early timeout due to the mix-up, with officials also assessing a delay of game.

Despite the rocky start, Hield quickly returned in the correct attire and play resumed without further incident.
The moment came just days after Hield’s playoff heroics in Game 7 against the Houston Rockets, where he scored a career-playoff high 33 points, including nine 3-pointers, to keep Golden State’s postseason hopes alive.
Fans had a field day online, with many enjoying the hilarious moment on X (formerly Twitter).

The Warriors ultimately held on to win Game 1 despite a late scare and losing Stephen Curry to a hamstring injury, moving one step closer to a potential return to the Western Conference finals for the first time since their 2022 title run.
For Hield, who has become a vital contributor off the bench, the episode served as a humorous reminder: great shooting may win games, but you’ve got to wear the right shorts to play.
