Prime accused in journalist's murder killed: Lanjar

Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar has said that he was confident that the killers of journalist Mohammad Mehr would be captured dead or alive and finally the Shikarpur police succeeded and killed the main accused during an operation in the katcha area.

Addressing a press conference in the Sindh Assembly, he said, from the day, the journalist was martyred, the police began actively tracking the killers through investigation, research, and evidence-based surveillance, and ultimately, the police succeeded and killed the main accused. He praised SSP Shikarpur and his team for their commendable efforts in the operation.

He further stated that when he assumed the office of Interior Minister, crimes like kidnapping for ransom, honey traps, and other criminal activities were on the upward trajectory. However, a significant reduction in crime has since been observed. He mentioned, there are currently only two honey trap cases, one in Shikarpur and one in Kashmore.

He specifically mentioned that several dacoits have been killed during the operation and encounter in the katcha area of Shikarpur. He added that he had instructed the Additional IG Karachi to take effective action against crime and improve policing.

He noted, it is encouraging to see a reduction in traffic accidents.
