HYDERABAD:

A heated session is anticipated at today's Hyderabad Municipal Corporation meeting concerning the proposed leasing of four valuable municipal properties, including the historic head office, to the private sector via public-private partnerships. Expressing strong opposition, PTI has strategized to protest the potential approval of this agenda, assigning specific tasks to its members.

MQM Pakistan, despite not being in the assembly due to an election boycott, has launched a city-wide campaign against this transfer, displaying condemnation banners at key locations. Jamaat-e-Islami has also protested against the Mayor.

The meeting's agenda, circulated by Council Officer Syed Asim Abbas, includes the approval for leasing and development schemes for these properties under a PPP model, allegedly allowing commercial projects on a rental basis. MQM's banners across Hyderabad voice strong disapproval, rejecting the "occupation" and sale of public municipal assets.
