Pakistan has stepped up its military preparedness in response to growing Indian military activity near the border, defence sources said on Tuesday, amid heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, Geo News reported.

Report claimed that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has placed its fighter jets and other strategic assets on high alert, fully prepared to respond to any “adventure” from the Indian side.

The development follows reports that the Indian Air Force (IAF) has deployed more than 300 fighter aircraft—including Rafale, Mirage 2000, and Su-30 jets—at airbases near Pakistan’s border. India has also announced air exercises in the Rajasthan sector, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, May 7 and 8.

In addition to military manoeuvres, India is also conducting civil defence drills across 244 border districts on Wednesday. Sirens were reportedly used during preparedness exercises involving schoolchildren and civilians in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), New Delhi, and Lucknow.

The rising tension comes amid increasing diplomatic and military friction, especially following India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and its repeated accusations against Pakistan over Pahalgam attack.
