A 24-year-old fast bowler, Aleem Khan, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest during a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Challenge Cup match in Bannu on May 5, Geo News reported on Tuesday.
The incident occurred during a two-day domestic fixture when fast bowler Khan suddenly collapsed while bowling. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but could not be revived.
Umpire Inamullah Khan, who was officiating the match, said, "Aleem collapsed while bowling. We immediately called for medical help and took him to the hospital, but sadly he did not survive."
PCB Director of Domestic Cricket, Abdullah Khurram Niazi, expressed deep sorrow over the young cricketer’s death. "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Khan. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family during this difficult time," he said.
Family sources confirmed that Khan, a resident of Bannu, has been laid to rest.
